LEGO Education Showcase Event a Big Hit with Kids

June 08, 2013 ·

On Friday, May 24, 2013, Learn to Discover invited students of all ages to "Build Your Future" using LEGO creativity during our LEGO Education Showcase Event held at Oldemeyer Community Center, 986 Hilby Avenue, in Seaside, CA.

The Showcase Event is a customizable building activity that sparks creativity in participants by allowing them to use their imaginations to create LEGO models around a theme. The "Build Your Future" theme was selected to enable our young future leaders in science-, technology-, engineering-, art- and math-based careers  to showcase their creativity and imagination.  Learn to Discover also highlighted their use of LEGOs in their workshops covering robotics, simple machines, moving making, animation, math, bridge engineering, physics, space and flight, and design.

"By hosting a LEGO Education Showcase Event we offered students and community members the opportunity to work together to explore and build their future to inspire science, technology, engineering, art and math topics," said event lead, Shelly Laschkewitsch. "We also celebrated the creative ideas of our youth while encouraging them to learn about STEM subjects through the use of LEGO materials."

The LEGO Education Showcase Grant was made available through Education Blueprints Association, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing learning resources and programs that deliver education solutions to individuals, teachers, and students. Only 100 LEGO Education Showcase Grants were available nationwide, and Learn to Discover is proud to have been of those select recipients.
